Campus Life Magazine Analysis

The masthead Campus Life Magazine is placed at the top of the front cover and is written in bold white/grey font. The words in the masthead are place on the page different some are horizontal and some are vertically placed. The words in the masthead are also different sizes of font. This gives the magazine a sort of casual look and suggests that university is maybe not as full on as some people say it is.
There is a puff on the front cover of this magazine which contains a competition to win an 8GB Zune. This puff is in a large red circle and the colour red has connotations with danger and is a very eye catching colour.
The central image is a picture of a Canadian TV presenter this is very fitting because this magazine is for a Canadian university. Having a picture of George Stroumboulopoulos the presenter of George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight on the front cover of a student magazine will make people wonder why someone so famous is on the front cover of their university magazine.
There is a double page spread for the contents page but one of the two pages is an advert for a mobile phone company offering a special mobile phone plan designed for students. This is very appealing to students because they have a low income and have to do things on a budget. The pictures of Meer cats off the television advert ad a touch of humour to this advert. On the actual contents page part there are pictures of a television star, a popular video game and American football. These pictures draw the reader in because they appeal to a wide range of young people. Underneath these pictures there are several sub categories containing many things university students are interested in such as music, TV, sport, fashion, technology etc.
